Lesson 4: Culture & Toxicity
What does it feel like to be a part of your esports program? Whatever the answer is, it's due to the culture you establish and the behavior you model.
There's no denying that toxic behavior can be quite common in the video game community. As a high school esports coach, you have the opportunity to impact how your players behave when they're competing for their school. PlayVS takes competitive gaming from the often isolated environment at home and into the structured, supervised environment of a school where players are physically with their teammates. You can use this in-person, school-based environment to ensure accountability for poor behavior as well as consequences for violating established rules.
Both Matt and Justin are familiar with the importance of establishing a program culture. Let's hear them tell it.
