What’s New
Roster Lock
Rosters lock for playoffs and championships will happen today at 11/11/2024 11:59PM local time for most leagues! More details can be found in the High School Fall ‘24 Schedule.
Reschedules
All matches must be completed by November 15th at 11:59 PM local time. No reschedules will be available after this date.
Fighter Select Finals and Championships Details
Finals and championship dates have been added to the PlayVS Fighter Select Overview.
Middle School Spring ‘25 Schedule
We’ve published the Middle School Spring ‘25 Schedule!
Clinching Your Spot In Playoffs
As we wrap up the last 2 weeks of the Fall ‘24 seasons, teams may have already secured their spot in playoffs and see the Clinch badge next to their name on the standings. Teams must still not exceed the max number of 2 forfeit losses to maintain eligibility. Acquiring a 3rd forfeit loss after Clinching can result in disqualification from Playoffs. More information on Clinching your team’s spot, and other Playoff related information can be found in the Playoffs FAQ.
PlayVS Fall '24 Scholastic Events Overview
We’ve added new details on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate solos schedule, rules and match instructions, league enrollment, and bracket information to the Fall ‘24 Scholastic Events Overview.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Rulebook
Leagues or events using a Solos (or individual player) format will compete in a single Bo3 match for preseason and regular season matches, and then a single Bo5 match for playoff matches.
Overwatch 2 Rulebook
Updated team reference to blue and red side and added tiebreaker protocols with the tiebreaker game for Fall 2024 season being Control on Busan.

Playoff Schedule
As playoffs for the Fall 24’ season may involve multiple matches in a single week, and/or competition days that differ from the regular season, please reference the Fall ‘24 Schedule to ensure teams are ready for match days. Additionally, Playoff competition days can be found on the Public League Page for each respective league.
Middle School Enrollment
Middle school leagues can enroll throughout the regular season. Please reach out to CX for enrollment support after the enrollment period ends 12/9/24 at 11:59 PM. For each middle school match, please remember to join the Match Queue!

What’s New
Election Day Matches Moved to Monday
As many of our schools are closed as polling locations on Tuesday, November 5th, we have moved all Tuesday matches to Monday, November 4th.
Championships & Finals
New finals information around start times and bracket sizes can be found in Fall ‘24 Finals and Championships Schedule.
Alternative Fall '24 Championships
We’ve also added new playoff and championship/finals dates to Unified and Alternative Leagues.
Joining the PlayVS Match Queue
For confusion around joining the match queue in instances where the Join Queue button is greyed out and not clickable, we’ve added to the Match Queue FAQ.

Public League Links
Our team has compiled a list of links to our active High School leagues for the Fall ‘24 season! Each link below is publicly available, meaning anyone can view these pages without signing into an active PlayVS Account. Links are available for both High School and Middle School.
Last Chance to Join Our Fall Scholastic Tournaments
This is your last chance to register for our scholastic tournaments this Fall. Enrollment closes two hours prior to the first match time.

Enrollment Open for High School Spring ‘25
High schoolers can officially enroll for the Spring ‘25 season! Check out the Spring '25 Schedule.
Reminders
Paid Online Subscription Clarification
NBA 2K, Madden NFL 25, College Football 25, and our Nintendo titles require a paid online subscription for the respective console in order to compete. Free-to-play titles, such as Rocket League, do not need a paid online subscription when competing on console.
Schools with multiple Nintendo Switch consoles should check out the Family Membership, which grants online access to up to eight consoles for every one subscription!

Please ensure that the coaches listed in the coaches section of your team will be present for the match and can be contacted if needed.

What’s New
Paid Online Subscription Clarification
NBA 2K, Madden NFL 25, College Football 25, and our Nintendo titles require a paid online subscription for the respective console in order to compete. Free-to-play titles, such as Rocket League, do not need a paid online subscription when competing on console.
Schools with multiple Nintendo Switch consoles should check out the Family Membership, which grants online access to up to eight consoles for every one subscription!
Reminders
Weather Related Delays

The esport titles have now been grouped into Groups A & B. Please view the High School Fall Schedule ‘24 to prepare accordingly for Playoffs!
Substitutions
For most titles, substitutions are not allowed once a Game of Record is established. When the game is complete and the results are recorded, player substitutions are permitted before the start of the following game. Find more details on substitutions in all affected title rulebooks.

What's New
Weather Related Delays
If unfair or unsafe conditions impact your team/school, please reach out to Customer Experience. The situation is to be reviewed and if deemed “uncontrollable”, that team will be granted a BYE for that week of competition.

Game Connections Update
NBA 2K players can now connect their NBA 2K in-game name on the Connections tab of their Account Settings. Playstation & Xbox Live account connections have been removed to avoid confusion on which game accounts are required for competition. Find more in the Game Connections Guide.
Overwatch Disconnection Clarification
If an entire team disconnects from the online match during a game, players that are still in the match will pause the game. More information can be found clarified in Overwatch Rulebook 1.4.4, Team Disconnections.
High School Updates (Titles A & B)
The esport titles have now been grouped into Groups A & B. Please view the High School Fall Schedule ‘24 to prepare accordingly for Playoffs!
Arizona (CAA) Schedule
Arizona (CAA) teams will have a unique Fall ‘24 league schedule for both Middle School and High School. This alternative schedule link has also been added to the general High School Schedule under “Alternative Schedules”.

What's New
All Game Rulebooks
For most titles, once a Game of Record is established, substitutions are not allowed. When the game is complete and the results are recorded, player substitutions are permitted before the start of the following game. Find more details on substitutions in all affected title rulebooks.
Chess and ChessKid: Side Selection and Substitution
Added Side Selection details outlining how teams will be divided in the game.
Fortnite Update
PlayVS would like to thank coaches and players across the Fortnite community for their extremely valuable feedback. This week, teams can look forward to multiple updates to the Island in addition to the remaining 15 arenas!

Fall ‘24 Season Begins

Game Connection Update
To avoid confusion on which game accounts are required for competition, Playstation & Xbox Live account connections will be removed by 9/30. For NBA 2K players, please share your in-game display name in your Match Lobby Chat.
Fortnite: Zone Wards Island Map
Just in time for the Regular Fall ‘24 Season, the PlayVS Zone Wars Fortnite Island is here!

Madden NFL 25 Rulebook
Steps provided on how to add other players through EA Connect and updated Game Settings, Game Options, and Cross-Play Settings details.
Chess Rulebook & Instructions
Steps have been added to state how sides are determined, and ultimately who will make the first opening move for each game.
High School Competition Rulebook: Shared School Game Accounts
If only one console and school account is being used for Street Fighter 6, only one of the active players must have that game account connected to their PlayVS Account.

What's New
Fall ‘24 Preseason Continues
Welcome to the second week of preseason for Fall '24! We highly recommend that all teams participate in at least one preseason match for team readiness as technical questions may arise.
- Please have your team join the preseason queue when they're fully ready to compete.
- The preseason queue is different from the regular season queue so you might be matched against a team enrolled in a different league for the preseason.

Chess Format Clarification
Individual 1v1 games will now be referred to as “Rounds” to avoid confusion when addressing overall Game ties during a match. All game title documentation has been updated and added to the Summary of Changes article above.
